In the year of 504 the four knights Sir Cadry, sir Maelgwyn, sir Cynyr and sir Ennis gathered at Saurum for a feast and animal fights. It was a grand festivity in these days of dire needs and crisis. Present during the feast were lord Uffo, prince Cynric of West Seaxe, a cousin of prince Alain’s and many more. A, not so grand knight that also showed up, was sir Arno who had served in Hantonne during the old days when Hantonne was still Hantonne and not a saxon colony. During the festivities sir Arno told sir Maelgwyn that he had clues that could help the other knight find his son. Sir Maelgwyn had to go past Duplain, and follow the Test river to Childerhall to find more answers. Time became of essence since prince Cynric said that they boy would be killed this year if lady Ellen did not swear fealty to king Cerdic West Seaxe. The four knights agreed that such a thing would be unthinkable. It would be much more sensible to swear fealty to King Nanteleod, they said. So the four knight rode off during the night and soon saw Badger forest, the beginning of The Forboding forest that they had to cross though. And foreboding their travel had been iindeed. A large Griffohip (Hippogriff) had been seen by Ennis and Maelgwyn the night before, flying over the lightning filled sky. Bravely the four knights entered the forest but were attacked during the night by a pack of wolves and some large mutated beast. Ennis almost lost his life to the wolves trying to protect his fellow knight and friend sir Cynyr. The knights however managed to repel the beasts that were attacking them and after some more travel finally reached their destination. The knights entered the town hall for the festivities at Childerhall, and left to play with the other children were their squires: Ciaran, Thomas, Rickar and Dafi. A very pretty girl named Rosemary captured all of their attention and during the night they played “Chicken” were you went around scaring the other children with a chicken claw until someone screamed. They went looking for a bag of cole and hidden sweets. They told stories, fenced and did brave things like kissing the the priest’s ass (donkey). In the end Rosemary had favored Ciaran and Thomas and as they walked her to the graveyard she told them that Maelgwyn’s son could be found in a village called Willowstream. She said that other children who had been taken there had talked to her, and it became apparent that Rosemary was herself one of the lost, dead children. She bid the two squires farewell and walked into the mist and disappeared. And so the four knights set off for Willowstream almost drowning in one of the rivers on their way. Especially sir Cadry was captured by the stream and it was pure luck that the other knights managed to save him. As they came to Willowstream they conjured a plan for Ennis and Cadry to lure the saxons out with a diversion and Cynyr and Maelgwyn dressed only in hunting armour would sneak into the longhouse were they supposed to find the imprisoned children. Little did the knights know what horror awaited them as the fighting started. The saxons were no longer alive, but undead, and the fighting that commenced were a mix of fear, hard work and strength. Eventually the undead fell and sir Maelgwyn entered the longhouse. He found his son, pale and thin cornered by an undead dog. Sir Maelgwyn killed the foul thing and took his son into his arms, and the boy slowly came to his senses. As the four knights burned the village to prevent further spread of the undead sir Cady found a gallow with a sign. As he could make out the letter “G” it dawned on the knight that the undead must have been the work of the wizard Gardeth, whom they had fought at Castle deep all those years ago (in 497). Probably Gardeth had punished the saxons for hanging him in the gallows. But if his power was spreading in this world now, what horror would the future hold for Salisbury?
