This hundred is held by the King and this is not part of the count of Salisbury’s domain. Within this hundred lies, at the head of the Avon river, the large and unwalled town of Magpie (Upavon) that serves as the local market for the farmers of this hundred. Most of the manors are located in the valley of the river Bourne.
After the death of Uther this hundred managed on their own for a few years, until Sir Richard took control of the hundred by conquest.
