Castle DuPlain is one of the early fortifications in Salisbury. It was constructed by Robyn, Dominus Sorviodunum in late 450’s as a way to defend against common bandit raids from Hantonne and as a precautionary defensive line against Silchester.

The castle is a Motte and Bailey without any waterworks. It holds a permanent garrison of troops supplied by local lords.
