St. Evasius Abbey

Monastery-evasius.png

On the hills nearby Hindon lies an old roman abbey. It is lead by Abbot Clamaran, an middle-aged man of few virtues and little renown. He runs the abbey with an iron fist, and makes sure that the monks respect the church’s ways. They often trade with the local village Wick and with the Hindon manor lord, to whom they owe some form of weak loyalty.

The abbey reluctantly adheres to the Advowson of the hundred court. Most roman abbeys either try to avoid advowson or find ways around it, but the ancient customs of Hillfort is difficult to avoid. Abbot Clamaran knows that his time is soon to come, and he tries to petition the local lords for a replacement of his choice.

The abbey is dedicated to a roman saint, Evasius, who was persecuted by pagans in Italy. A small relic (his ear bone), is kept safe in the abbey.
