Castle Wardour

Bellum Duris, or Wardour, is the ruins of an old Roman fort as well as a hundred. The hill within the old ruins also still act as an area for the hundred court in Hillfort.

The castle

It fell during the Siege of Wardour in 445 when Vortigern dug in the castle with parts of his army. The Castle was besieged in Spring and fell in last parts of autumn after the old roman walls falls to roman sappers forced to work for the Picts.

The hundred

Lord Yerward, the former commander of the Bannermen, was crushed under the walls when they fell. After his death, Lord Rudderch decided not to grant the land to another knight but instead keep the farmland for himself. He still holds the extra seat in the hundred court for this very reason.
