Alder hundred was granted from the old post as Elector of the Supreme Collegium for the ancient city of Sorviodunum (Sarum). Within Alder lie the city of Sarum and the Castle of the Rock. The hundred court is held at the old Aldertree Manor. Alder consists mostly of farm and meadowland, reaching to the woodland of Thorngate and Chiefsfield to the east and south.
