This hundred was granted by King Uther to Roderick as part of the barony of Anna’s Water and essentially forms the dowry of the lady Ellen. Both the Avon and Ebble river flow through this hundred making for fertile farmland in the low lying areas. The hilly area to the south is barren by comparison.
It is the most southern settlement of the county. The hundred court is held at Britford at the Avon river. To the south and east lies Foreboding Forest, out of which menaces frequently appear.
